The Challenge
An international industrial group wanted to make its financial processes more efficient, transparent and modern. Several parallel SAP systems led to high coordination costs and media disruptions. Many processes, for example in the order-to-cash and procure-to-pay process, were highly manual and took up valuable resources.
The aim was to create a harmonized, digitalized process landscape that combines speed, quality and scalability.
Our solution
Our consultants developed a structured transformation program. The focus was on setting up a central programme and project management office (PMO), which created transparency and controllability across all sub-projects.
Central financial processes - from accounting and controlling to treasury - were analyzed and optimized. Our team supported the introduction of SAP S/4HANA and middleware solutions for integrating different systems.
In terms of methodology, our experts used a hybrid approach: traditional project management structures combined with agile methods such as Scrum and Kanban. This made it possible to manage complex dependencies, establish clear rules and communication channels and involve the specialist departments in the transformation in a targeted manner.
The result
After around two and a half years, a modern, lean and scalable finance organization was in place. Core processes now run up to 30% faster, numerous manual steps have been automated and data quality has improved significantly.
