Efficient digitalization of sales and administrative processes

The Challenge

We implemented one of the most significant and promising projects as part of the digital modernization of the social lottery Aktion Mensch. Among other things, the sales and administrative processes were to be digitized. This was achieved thanks to recyclable services through API development with MuleSoft. Our client is the most successful and well-known social lottery on the German market. With its revenues, it supports up to 1,000 social projects for people with disabilities, children, and young people every month. As part of the digital transformation, both the lottery's sales and administrative processes and other concepts were to be digitized. Hyand implemented one of the most significant and promising projects as part of the planned IT restructuring measures. The project started with the goal of developing an API facade to provide new playing options and contact points for players. To this end, Hyand encapsulated individual systems step by step so that they could be reused as a basis for other services.

Our solution

One of the major challenges in the project was that the lottery was based on a historically grown and heterogeneous backend system whose communication relationships in the system were not transparent. The team analyzed the IT landscape and proceeded in accordance with Mulesoft's API-led connectivity:

  • Build system APIs that encapsulate individual backend systems
  • Create a domain-oriented process layer to be able to process required requests
  • Develop an experience layer to realize the access of every consumer and to be able to provide the results precisely.

Mule Runtime is used for the solution. The Anypoint portal adds many functions for defining APIs, controlling the environment and evaluating API requests.

The result

By creating reusable services, Hyand has provided the customer with an expandable, easy-to-maintain and stable tool that has made a major contribution to the digitalization of the company. Building on this, new digital business cases have already been developed with partner companies, which are to be further expanded in the future.
