The Challenge
The chemical company EnviroChemie was faced with the challenge of efficiently monitoring and controlling the dosing of chemicals for optimal wastewater treatment. Previous methods required manual sampling and analysis at each stage of the process, which was time-consuming and labor-intensive, while providing insufficient data for effective wastewater treatment. Particularly problematic was the varying quality of the feed water, which made it difficult to achieve optimum chemical adjustment. In addition, the previous methods were based on random samples, which prevented continuous monitoring.
Our solution
Hyand presented a smart solution based on real-time monitoring using IoT sensor technology and image recognition and analysis. The analysis of this data is continuously adjusted by intelligent control of the chemical supply using machine learning. Where previously only one image per day per process step was taken and analyzed, the new system regularly provides data for evaluation at short intervals via permanently installed sensors and industrial cameras. Artificial intelligence automatically regulates the addition or reduction of chemicals in wastewater treatment based on the analyzed images. Company employees can monitor the entire wastewater treatment process at any time via a customized dashboard. All relevant data is displayed in real time, and irregularities can be detected immediately and counteracted accordingly.

With the introduction of Hyand Solutions' AI-supported real-time monitoring, EnviroChemie has been able to significantly improve the efficiency and accuracy of its wastewater treatment. The system enables continuous monitoring and automatic adjustment of chemical dosing, which optimizes resource consumption and reduces personnel costs. Real-time data integration and the use of predictive analytics provide a sound basis for rapid decision-making processes. The solution was awarded first place in the Achema Innovation Challenge for its outstanding performance in the field of predictive maintenance in water management, underscoring the innovative power and applicability of this technology.
