Perfectly promote and staff employees: AI-supported skills analysis
The Challenge
The skills of a company's employees are the key to its success. Our client, a telecommunications company, wants to promote and support its employees in the best possible way, helping them to apply their skills and strengths in a targeted manner. To realize its vision of becoming a skill-driven company, our client needed a user-friendly solution for recording and analyzing employee skills. Together, we developed an innovative system that uses artificial intelligence to read skills from various sources, support learning goals, and optimally fill internal positions. A central application was needed to optimally fill internal positions and specifically promote employees. Solutions already in use proved to be less user-friendly, which led to low acceptance.
Our solution
At the start of the project, a big-picture workshop was held to define the strategic goals and requirements. The application was then developed using an agile approach with two-week sprint cycles. Detailed wireframes and UX designs were created to ensure an intuitive and easy-to-use interface. At the same time, we analyzed the requirements together with the customer and implemented them using a combination of technical consulting and development. A central element of the project was the integration of an AI-supported backend that automatically extracts skills from various sources. The collected data was stored and processed in a PostgreSQL database. In addition, the application was optimized through usability testing to ensure a high level of user-friendliness. The entire infrastructure was designed to be scalable and flexibly expandable in order to easily integrate future requirements.
The result
Our client can now record employee skills in a transparent and structured manner. The smart "Skills Ecosystem" solution automatically analyzes skills from resumes, LinkedIn profiles, or manual entries and displays them in a clear platform. With the help of "Textkernel" AI technology, similar skills can be identified and suitable learning and job recommendations generated. In this way, the system provides targeted support to employees in developing their skills while also facilitating internal recruitment. The application also provides a central point of contact for learning courses, job offers, and individual development opportunities. This significantly reduces the administrative burden on HR and organizational teams, while allowing employees to actively manage their careers. The result is a powerful, user-friendly, and scalable solution that helps companies optimally deploy and develop their employees.
