The Challenge

The issue of sustainability is extremely important for companies. Failure to address this issue can have serious environmental, social, and economic consequences. Legal requirements, such as the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), specify how packaged goods may be distributed in the EU. Those who do not comply with these requirements risk the long-term marketability of their products. Our client, an international discounter, is committed to producing comprehensive sustainability reports. However, the necessary data has been lacking until now. This data must be systematically collected from suppliers and carefully evaluated to enable transparent and trustworthy reporting. In addition, the data should be used to reduce packaging materials and increase the proportion of recyclable materials.

Our solution

Our customized sustainability solution collects a wide range of relevant data from suppliers. In close cooperation with the specialist departments, the necessary data attributes were defined in order to meet all legal requirements. To ensure high data quality, internal applications for error detection and correction were also developed. By implementing machine learning algorithms and anomaly detection, we were able to expand the system with intelligent analysis processes that detect deviations at an early stage, thus ensuring data integrity.

The result

The solution enables complete and clear collection of all required sustainability data and provides it in meaningful reports. At the same time, all information is archived in an audit-proof manner so that customers can access reliable data at any time. Automated verification mechanisms have significantly reduced the system's susceptibility to errors and permanently increased data quality. On this basis, packaging materials can also be effectively reduced—a clear ecological and economic added value for the customer.
